Knowledge With Conrad & Makoto's fantastic 'Golden Girl' currently riding high in junglist's hearts, the label that helped to take jungle to the masses is currently on the rise again, following a few years during which that trademark Good Looking sound appeared lose relevance somewhat. This two CD set takes in one of Bukem & Conrad's ever-tight live sets, and also a pristine studio mix of deep and dreamy Good Looking beats. It's that latter that works best, particularly when the baritone-voiced Conrad launches into a rendition of the aforementioned 'Golden Girl'. Bright and breezy.

Dogs On Acid LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad have touched every corner of the globe and provide a sound that people from all walks of life can relate to and enjoy. You even find people that don’t normally like drum and bass at the famous Logical Progression sessions enjoying the music as much as any die hard D&B head. No wonder the Progression Sessions series on CD has done so well, and no doubt this next instalment of the legendary duo, live in Munich, will be another huge success in giving us all the listening pleasure of their live experience. As well as a very limited DVD release of the gig you can expect 2 CD’s, the first being the live mix featuring the smooth vocals of Conrad and the second as an exclusive studio mix from the main man. This release includes plenty of the latest releases from Good Looking such as the massive anthem ‘Golden Girl’ from Makoto (featuring the sweet vocals of Conrad) as well as fresh bits from CIA, 31 records and Social Studies. Other artists also included are Greg Packer with ‘Organ Tune’, Stress Level & TC-1’s ‘No Way Back’, Catch 22, Basic Intentions and Ill Logic & Raff’s ‘Shootout’ to name a few. Just like with all the Progression Session live series, this release is truly one not to be missed. Treat yourself to some quality music! 10/10

laut.de Der Weg um die Welt war vorgezeichnet: Erst kam Klavierunterricht, dann Jazzmusik und später ein Faible für Breakbeats respektive Turntables. LTJ Bukem bringt seine entspannte und globale Definition von Drum'n'Bass seit über zehn Jahren unters Volk. Mit der Progression Sessions-Reihe zelebriert der DJ und Produzent die toughere Seite seines stilprägenden Good Looking-Labels. Bukems Party-Reihe wirbt überwiegend für Labelmates. In der Müncher Muffathalle fütterte er seine Musik-Maschinen mit alten Hasen wie Makoto oder Greg Packer, aber auch neuen Acts (Catch 22 und Mathematics). Zu ambienten Soundflächen, runden Bässen, jazzig-souligen Harmonien rattern die Snares, Bassdrums, Hi Hats, Rides und Percussions fast pausenlos. Parkers "Organ Tune" eröffnet den Tanzabend wahrlich stilsicher. "This Is Soul Mine" atmet die verschwitzte Luft des globalen Break-Clubs.
"No Way Back" und "Era Soul" liefern die einprägsamsten Harmonie-Gerüste. Ab "Shootout" (mit "Spiel Mir Das Lied Vom Tod"-Mundharmonika) bringt LTJ darkere Farben ins Klangspektrum. Die Bässe greifen an, die Beats rollen härter. Der spacige Makoto geht dann etwas vom Gas, damit ICR den Herzschlag erneut erhöhen und Catch 22 losknallen kann.
MC Conrad festigt über 14 Tracks stimmgewaltig seinen Ruf als einer der tightesten Szene-MCs. Der Mann spürt, an welchen Stellen man verbal pushen kann. LTJs DJ-Skills sind gleichfalls unbestritten. Das altbewährte Live-Team entwickelt eine stylisch-atmosphärische Party-Dramaturgie inklusive butterweichen Übergängen.
Etwas mehr Abwechslung bei den BPM hätte dem Set zwar noch mehr Dynamik verliehen. Bukems Trackauswahl rollt dennoch auf jedem Tanzboden. Wie üblich schickt Good Looking die Scheibe als Doppel-CD ins Rennen: ein Live-Mitschnitt mit Conrad und eine Studio-Instrumental-Version. Das nennt man Service.

De:bug Jeder, der bereits ein Exemplar aus der "Progression Sessions live"-Serie von LTJ Bukem im Plattenregal stehen hat oder weiß, wie LTJ Bukem zusammen mit MC Conrad klingt, muss sich diese Doppel-CD nicht kaufen. Er kennt sie nämlich schon. Klingt wie immer. Auf der ersten CD Bukem live mit MC Conrad in München, auf der zweiten CD der Studio Mix davon. Nichts Neues im Süden. Das heißt nicht, dass Volume 10 schlecht ist. Die beiden sind live klasse, MC Conrad mit seiner überirdischen Stimme und LTJ Bukem, der alte Hase, der eben weiß, wie er die Leute mit flinken Breaks und atmosphärischen Klängen in seinen Bann zieht. Und eigentlich mag ich ihn. Aber es ist irgendwie einfallslos und langweilig, zum x-ten Mal ein Live-Set auf CD rauszubringen. Wer braucht das? Höchstens Menschen, die Bukem auf der 2004er Tour zum ersten Mal gehört haben. Oder Lounge-Besitzer.
